Coaching Essentials for Leaders
The signature coaching skills training that will help you succeed into the future.
Do you want practical skills to empower your people to take responsibility, increase engagement and get results?
Are you a people Manager, Leader, HR/OD Practitioner or an internal coach?
As we transition back into workplaces, does any of this sound familiar?
You’ve had budget cuts due to loss of revenue and uncertainty about the future economy.
Your organisation has had to pivot to adapt to the economic disruptions and new work environments, to not just survive but thrive
You need to get innovative about how you and your team move forward to achieve tangible results and support your organisations profitability
Building engagement and retaining your high performers is now more important than ever to boost and maintain productivity and performance
With so much disruption, supporting the wellbeing of yourself and your people has a higher focus.
If any of this resonates, then you understand the importance of adapting your leadership style to effectively navigate this new reality emerging for leaders and organisations.
Coaching skills are needed now more than ever.
A recent Otago University Study found that 89% of respondents want to continue to work from home, at least part time, post lock down.
Many people have been reflecting on what “meaningful work” means for them and are looking for more fulfilment in what they’re doing.
Leaders who have a higher focus on building intrinsic rewards such as autonomy and connecting work to meaning and purpose, will be more successful at motivating and retaining their people.
Learning & development will need to occur in multiple ways, with less reliance on external providers to support the growth and development of people.
Cultures of high trust, innovation and creativity will have an even higher focus for businesses operating in the post lockdown economy.
We’re here to support you to respond to these challenges quickly.

"The value I received from this programme was enormous! It provided a combination of refreshing ideas, tools and techniques which were supported by science and facts. There was an excellent balance between theory and practice, allowing time for raising my own self-awareness and insights, while also benefitting from practicing and interacting with others."

Michelle has a very engaging style and her depth of experience and storytelling enhanced the training significantly. Michelle provides honest and constructive feedback throughout the training to help participants develop skills. I felt supported, valued and encouraged and would highly recommend any training / development programmes that Michelle offers.
- Jennifer Bertie, Head of Operations
On Michelle’s courses I have been challenged and supported to grow and develop my skills as a coach. There is always generous sharing of knowledge and experience, and Michelle also offered the opportunity to go deeper and really instigate the changes I needed to be who I want to be and achieve what I want to do. The one on one coaching sessions I have had with Michelle have been transformational. Thank you.
- Niki van Paassen, Coach & Trainer
You will leave this training with an understanding of what coaching is and isn’t. A number of tools and frameworks that you can employ at work and in life beyond work and most importantly that you can enable change in others.
- Tim, Manager
Michelle’s facilitation style is very informative, yet also open and fun… it was challenging and inspiring at the same time. Great tools, models and techniques to apply back on the job and in life. Very relevant and beneficial.
- Lorraine, Principal OD Adviser
You learn a lot of powerful tools that you can use in everyday life, but the real benefit is seeing the results of using the tools on yourself and the people who you benefit.
- Tina, Consultant
A fantastic opportunity to learn more about human nature, yourself and a great foundation for building coaching skills on. You’ll understand how to guide someone to a solution for themselves and not jump in to fix it for them. It truly was great.
- Jo, HR Manager

What it comes down to is this… you cannot continue to operate in the old ways and expect your people to lift their performance and increase innovation:
Monitoring staff hours as a measure of performance has never been a strong motivating factor or contributor to high performance… when people work more flexibly the focus for leaders is on outcomes/outputs and building high levels of trust.
Telling people what to do and rushing in and solving their problems creates a workforce reliant on continual input from you, their leader. This approach doesn’t build intrinsic motivation for high performance AND it gets in the way of people taking personal responsibility and ownership.
True innovation and creativity occurs in an environment of high trust and psychological safety. Command and control cultures stifle creativity and promote group think – getting more of the same results.
How you communicate, set expectations and influence your people will become even more important as we operate in more virtual and budget conscious environments.
As a leader who embraces coaching skills and cultivates a coaching culture you and your team will stand out to others as high performers, who deliver tangible results.
Equip yourself for the workplaces of the future.
It’s time to develop your coaching skills and step more into being a people leader and influencer, rather than a Manager of resources.
If you continue to follow the common approach of directing, instructing and telling your people what to do – thinking your job is to have all the solutions – you’ll continue to experience frustration, feel exhausted trying to be across everyone’s work, increasing levels of disengagement and mediocre results. You won’t be positioning yourself, your team or your organisation to take on the challenges of the new environment and to thrive.
This way of working with greater flexibility has been talked about for many years, policies have even been written in preparation for people to work more flexibly but for the majority of organisations it hasn’t happened. There hasn’t been the right infrastructure in place or the type of high-trust cultures that would enable this approach.
With the enforced lock-down we’ve now experienced first-hand that this type of work environment is more than a possibility, it can work and it can deliver results. What’s needed to ensure success moving forward is to develop and adjust your leadership approach to respond effectively; to build trust and to lead your people in a more empowering way that delivers tangible results.
Are you ready to realise your leadership potential and equip yourself with practical, proven and profound skills and frameworks to coach your people? Then let’s chat.
